Lily and Santa’s Secret
It was New Year’s Eve, and little Lily sat by the glowing fireplace, hugging her favorite teddy bear. Snow danced outside the window, and the room was cozy and warm. She had just written a letter to Santa Claus, even though Christmas had already passed.
• Maybe Santa also brings gifts for New Year’s – Lily whispered to her teddy bear.
Just then, she heard a soft jingle outside. Curious, Lily ran to the window and gasped. A red sleigh sat in her snowy yard, and standing beside it was none other than Santa Claus himself! But something was different. His beard was tangled, and his boots were covered in mud.
Lily rushed outside.
• Santa! What are you doing here? – she asked, her eyes wide with wonder.
Santa gave a tired smile.
• Ho, ho, ho! Hello, Lily. My sleigh hit a snowy patch, and I need some help to fix it. Could you lend me a hand? – he said.
• Of course! – said Lily excitedly. - I’ll get my tools!
But as they worked together, Lily noticed something unusual. Santa seemed slower than she had imagined. He struggled to lift the heavy sack of toys and even stumbled a little.
• Santa, are you okay? – asked Lily.
Santa chuckled softly.
• Well, my dear, I’m not as young as I used to be. Flying all night takes a lot of energy.
Lily frowned. She thought Santa was supposed to be the strongest and fastest.
• Why don’t you move faster? – she asked without thinking.
Santa paused and looked at her gently.
• Because I’ve been doing this for a very long time. But every year, I still try my best, no matter how hard it gets.
Lily felt a little bad for asking.
• I’m sorry, Santa. I’ll help more – she said quickly.
Together, they fixed the sleigh and loaded it with presents.
The First Twist: The Forgotten Gift
Just as Santa was about to leave, he looked inside his sack and frowned.
• Oh no! I’ve forgotten a very special gift – he said.
• Where is it? – asked Lily.
• It’s hidden in the Twinkling Forest. But it’s a tricky place. You’ll have to guide me – Santa said.
Lily nodded bravely.
• Let’s go! I know how to follow the brightest star.
They hopped into the sleigh, and Santa handed the reins to Lily.
• You’re steering, my dear. Show me the way – he said.
Lily gripped the reins tightly and followed the biggest, brightest star in the sky. They flew over mountains and forests until they reached the Twinkling Forest. It sparkled like a million tiny lights.
The Second Twist: The Talking Trees
As they landed, the trees began to speak in low, creaky voices.
• Only those who show respect may enter – one of them said.
Santa stepped forward and bowed.
• Mighty trees, thank you for guarding this place. May we pass to retrieve a special gift? – he said.
The trees nodded and parted, creating a glowing path.
• Why did they listen to you, Santa? – Lily asked, amazed.
• Because I respect them, Lily. Respecting others, especially those who came before us, opens doors no magic key can.
Lily thought about this and decided to bow too.
• Thank you, trees, for letting us in – she said.
The trees rustled happily, and Santa smiled.

The Final Twist: The Missing Gift
At the center of the forest, they found a small, glowing box. Santa picked it up, but suddenly, the box floated out of his hands!
• Only those with kindness in their hearts can take it – a voice said.
Lily stepped forward.
• Santa is the kindest person I know! He works so hard every year to make others happy. He deserves it! – she said.
The box slowly floated back into Santa’s hands. It opened, revealing a shining star inside.
• Thank you, Lily. Your kind words made this possible – Santa said.
A New Year’s Wish
Back in the sleigh, Santa handed the star to Lily.
• You’ve helped me so much tonight. This star is for you. Make a wish – he said.
Lily closed her eyes and whispered.
• I wish Santa never stops doing what he loves.
As the clock struck midnight, the star lit up the sky, and Santa’s sleigh soared higher than ever before.
• Thank you, Lily. You’ve reminded me why I do this every year – Santa said.
Lily waved as the sleigh disappeared into the night.
• Happy New Year, Santa! – she called.
• Happy New Year, Lily! – Santa replied, his voice echoing through the starry sky.
The End.
