Anna and the Magic New Year’s Eve
It was New Year’s Eve, and little Anna was excited. Snow sparkled outside her window like glitter, and the stars seemed to wink at her. She snuggled on the sofa with her tiny kitten, Lily, who purred softly in her lap.
• Tonight will be magical, Lily – said Anna.
The clock ticked closer to midnight, and Anna had a secret plan. She had heard a story that if you made a wish at exactly midnight on New Year’s Eve, it might come true.
Anna looked at Lily.
• I know what I’ll wish for! I’ll wish to visit the Snowy Kingdom. Imagine how fun that would be! – she whispered.
Lily meowed, as if agreeing. Suddenly, the room filled with a silvery light, and a snowflake as big as a dinner plate floated into the room. It spun in the air, twinkling like a little star.
• Follow me if you dare! – a tiny voice giggled from the snowflake.
Anna gasped but held Lily close.
• Let’s go, Lily! – she said bravely.
They stepped onto the glowing snowflake, and WHOOSH! It whisked them into the sky, past the moon, and down into a shimmering, icy forest.
The Snowy Kingdom was more beautiful than Anna had imagined. Icicles sparkled like diamonds, and snowflakes danced in the air like tiny fairies. A tall snowman with a golden scarf appeared.
• Welcome to the Snowy Kingdom! Midnight is coming soon. You’ll want to make your wish before the New Year begins! – he said.
Anna smiled and thanked him, but Lily seemed suspicious. Her ears twitched, and she stared at the snowman.
• Be careful, Anna – Lily whispered in her kitten way.
The snowman led them to a glittering ice castle where a feast was waiting.
• Eat and enjoy! – the snowman said with a grin.
The table was filled with pies, cakes, and candies. But something felt strange. The pies smelled too sweet, and the candies sparkled like they were made of stars.
Anna hesitated.
• Lily, should we eat this? – she asked.
Lily shook her tiny head.
• Maybe not. It feels… tricky.
Suddenly, the snowman’s grin grew wider, and his eyes glowed like lanterns.
• Aren’t you hungry? You need strength to make your wish! – he urged.

Anna stepped back, holding Lily close.
• No, thank you. We’ll wait.
The snowman frowned, and the feast vanished in a puff of smoke.
• Smart girl, but midnight is near! You’ll need the wishing star to make your wish. Find it if you can! – he laughed, and the room turned into a maze of icy walls.
Anna and Lily ran through the maze. The walls glittered, but they couldn’t find the wishing star. Suddenly, Lily leaped from Anna’s arms and pawed at a crack in the ice.
• Look here! – Lily meowed.
Anna peeked into the crack and saw a tiny star glowing softly. She reached in and pulled it out.
• We found it, Lily! – Anna cheered.
But just as they were about to make their wish, the snowman appeared again, larger and scarier than before.
• You’re too clever for your own good! That star is mine! – he roared.
Anna held the star tightly.
• No! It’s for those with kind hearts and smart minds! – she shouted.
The star began to glow brighter and brighter until the snowman melted into a puddle of water.
• You did it, Anna! – Lily purred.
The star twinkled and spoke in a tiny voice.
• Make your wish, kind girl.
Anna closed her eyes and wished to go home safely with Lily. In a flash, they were back in their cozy living room. The clock chimed midnight, and fireworks lit up the sky outside.
Anna hugged Lily tightly.
• Being smart saved us tonight, Lily. Happy New Year! – she said.
Lily purred in agreement, and they fell asleep, dreaming of snowy adventures and magical stars.
